Why upholstery needs more than vacuuming
A vacuum removes what sits on the surface. The smell, the dullness and the allergen load come from what has worked down into the pile and the padding — skin cells, dust, body oils, spilled drinks and, in Dubai, a steady input of fine outdoor dust.
Hot water extraction injects solution into the fabric and draws it back out under suction, carrying that material with it. Steam treatment does something related, using heat in place of volume, which suits fabrics that should not be saturated.
The part that goes wrong is method selection. Wool, silk, viscose and some leathers react badly to the wrong approach, and colour bleeding or shrinkage is not recoverable. That is why fabric identification and a test patch come before anything else.

Some stains are permanent, and we will say so before we start instead of promising. Dye loss, bleach marks and old burns do not come back with any method.

- Vacuum loose soil from the items if you can, and clear anything stored underneath.
- Point out specific stains and tell us what caused them, which affects the treatment chosen.
- Move ornaments, electricals and anything fragile away from the items being cleaned.
- Tell us if anyone in the household has asthma or a fragrance sensitivity.
After the visit
Afterwards
- Items stay damp for a period that depends on the fabric, the method and the airflow in the room.
- Keep the room ventilated and stay off carpets until they are dry.
- Some marks lift further as the fibre dries, so final results are judged once dry.
- If a stain was flagged as permanent at survey, it will still be there. We told you beforehand for a reason.

How long does upholstery take to dry?
It depends on the fabric, the method and the airflow in the room, typically a few hours for steam treatment and longer for hot water extraction. We confirm the expected drying time before you book.
Can you remove every stain?
No, and anyone who says otherwise is overselling. Some dyes, bleach marks and long-set stains are permanent. We assess honestly before starting so you know what to expect.
Is it safe for wool, silk or leather?
Only with the correct method, which is why fabric identification and a test patch come first. The wrong approach causes colour bleed or shrinkage that cannot be reversed.
Will it help with allergies?
Extraction removes a substantial part of the dust and dust mite allergen load held in carpets, mattresses and upholstery. It reduces the reservoir; it does not eliminate allergens entirely.
Do you clean mattresses for bed bugs?
Cleaning is not a bed bug treatment. If you suspect bed bugs, that is a pest control job and needs a different approach — our bed bug service covers it, and we would tell you instead of taking the cleaning booking.
Do we need to leave the property?
No. The work is item by item and you can stay in the property. We will ask you to keep off treated carpet until it has dried.
